Gala Corina: 2002

The 2002 Gala Corina was sponsored by Atelier Architects who at the time were renovating Tampa Height’s historic Tyer Temple.

Referred to as ‘The Sanctuary’, 16,000 square feet of gutted basement and sanctuary space was filled with the work of 82 artists. The interior space was altered by wrapping white butcher paper around existing 2×4 framing construction to create papered walls much like Japanese Shoji screens.

This show featured some of Tampa’s notably established artists hanging work right beside some who were showing for the first time and everything in between, to create a truly cooperative success that has raised the level of expectations for the 2003 Gala Corina.
